Healthy Environment, Healthy Springfield (HEHS) is an environmental justice coalition of Springfield residents and organizations, including local community-based organizations, community and youth groups, schools, area colleges, and city agencies. HEHS works to bring the community together to address the many environmental injustices that Springfield residents face, and works to ensure that everyone has a voice in this process.

Initiated in 2011 through a U.S. EPA CARE grant, HEHS is currently working with the community to better understand the many environmental risks that exist in Springfield and how they impact community residents.  Through data assessments, community forums, and other methods, we have begun to identify the many sources of air, water and soil pollution that affect city residents every day.  This information is being used to prioritize identified issues and develop a plan to address these issues.
